Program Sekolah Nol Sampah datang Kembali. Kali ini giliran Peserta Didik Kelas 4 belajar mengobservasi berbagai jenis sampah hingga cara mengelolahnya. Selain memotivasi anak untuk berusaha mengurangi sampah, tujuan dari kegiatan ini agar Peserta Didik memahami 3 kategori jenis sampah, yaitu organik, daur ulang dan residu sesuai dengan Gerakan Nasional Pilah Sampah Dari Rumah.

Kegiatan diawali dengan materi dari Bu Ami, selaku wali kelas 4 A. Peserta Didik diajak mengobservasi berbagai jenis sampah yang telah disediakan di tabel. “Sampah organik merupakan sampah yang paling ramah lingkungan karena kita bisa mendaur ulangnya sendiri, misalnya dengan menjadikannya pupuk” Ujarnya dihadapan Peserta Didik. Bu Ami menambahkan jenis sampah lainnya yaitu sampah anorganik. Sampah yang sulit diurai ini dibagi lagi menjadi 2, yaitu yang bisa di-daur ulang dan tidak. Sampah yang tidak bisa didaur ulang dikategorikan sebagai sampah residu.

Kegiatan kemudian berlanjut dengan pemutaran film animasi Tami Wereng. Film pendek ini menceritakan seorang warga membuang sampahnya di sungai karena rendahnya tingkat literasi ekologi. Hal yang dianggap biasa tersebut ternyata dapat berdampak buruk terhadap sistem ekologi. Akibatnya sangat banyak, seperti menimbulkan wabah penyakit, banjir, hingga memperburuk kualitas air.

Seusai kegiatan di kelas, Peserta Didik kemudian berkumpul di lapangan sekolah. Mereka dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Disini, mereka mengikuti permainan memilah sampah dengan baik dan benar. Setiap anak harus menaruh sampah yang telah dicampur kemudian menaruh ke tempat yang benar sesuai dengan klasifikasinya. Peserta Didik tampak senang sekali mengikuti aktifitas tersebut. Bahkan mereka melakukan tanding ulang untuk menentukan pemenangnya. Setelah sesi permainan berakhir, Bu Ami memeriksa hasil pemilahan. Menurutnya, tidak ada menang & kalah dalam permainan tersebut. Hal utama yang ingin diraih adalah agar Peserta Didik memahami klasifikasi sampah dengan baik. “Baik, kita cek yang bagian organik dulu ya. Daun kering, apakah benar ini organik?” Tanya Bu Ami. “Betul Bu” Jawab Peserta Didik dengan kompak.

Terdapat beberapa jenis sampah yang sengaja dibuat membingungkan. Hal ini dimaksudkan agar anak-anak terangsang untuk berpikir kritis. Seperti kain yang bisa bersifat organik maupun anorganik. Jika kain terbuat dari 100% katun, maka termasuk organik. Jika ada campuran, maka termasuk anorganik. Contoh lainnya seperti tetrapak yang umum dipakai sebagai tempat susu & jus. Tetrapak mengandung sebagian kecil kertas dan sebagian besar plastik dan aluminium. Karena mengandung lebih banyak bahan anorganik, tetrapak termasuk anorganik.

Kegiatan ditutup dengan yel-yel 3 cara kelola sampah. “Kegiatan ini membuka wawasan aku tentang pengolahan sampah yang baik & benar. Mulai sekarang aku harus mengurangi penggunaan sampah, khususnya sampah anorganik” Ungkap Athena, salah satu Peserta Didik.
